Common Questions
Quick answers to things people usually ask before getting started.
How much does it cost?
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $225. Your rate depends on your monthly expense volume. Other work like catch-up projects, tax returns, and CFO support is quoted as a flat project fee. We'll give you a real number after a short conversation about your business.
My books are months or years behind. Can you help?
Yes. Catch-up bookkeeping is one of our specialties. We'll review how far back the records go and give you a project quote to bring everything current and accurate. Once we're caught up, we move into regular monthly service.
Is there a contract?
No long-term contract. Monthly bookkeeping is month-to-month, and you can cancel anytime. Project work is priced as a fixed scope before we begin so there are no surprises.
How do I send you documents?
We use SmartVault, a secure document portal, for statements, receipts, and anything else we need from you. Setup takes a few minutes and we walk you through it during onboarding.
Do we need to meet in person?
Not unless you want to. Most of our clients work with us remotely.
What software do you work with?
We work primarily in QuickBooks Online. We also support and integrate with Shopify, Square, Gusto, TaxJar, Webgility, Commerce Sync, Cin7, Bill.com, Expensify, ShipStation, Knowify, Planday, ClassWallet, Infusionsoft, and the SureTech Customer Portal. If you don't have QuickBooks yet, we'll help you get it set up and trained on it.
What do I need to do each month?
Keep your bank feeds connected and upload statements or receipts through SmartVault when we ask. Usually 15 to 20 minutes of your time. We handle categorization, reconciliations, and your monthly reports.
Do you handle payroll?
We don't run payroll for you, but we set up your payroll system, usually Gusto, and train you to run it on your own. Once it's running, we record the payroll activity in your books each month so everything stays accurate.
Do you file taxes?
Yes. We prepare federal and state business returns, nonprofit returns including Form 990, and personal returns for the owners of our business clients. Gina is an IRS Enrolled Agent, so we can also represent you before the IRS if a notice or audit comes up.
How quickly do you respond?
Same day for most messages, and within one business day at the latest.
How soon can you start?
Usually within a few days of our first call. If your books need cleanup, we start there. If they're current, we move straight into monthly service the next month.
