Fractional CFO

Part-time CFO-level support for business owners who need senior financial guidance without the cost of a full-time hire. Forecasting, analysis, and strategic planning on a flexible engagement.

What This Is

A fractional CFO is a senior financial advisor who works with your business on a part-time basis. You get the kind of strategic thinking a full-time CFO provides without carrying that role on your payroll. The engagement scales to what your business actually needs, whether that is a few hours each month or steady weekly involvement.

This is different from bookkeeping or tax work. A bookkeeper records what happened. A CFO interprets what it means and helps you decide what to do next. The focus is on cash flow, profitability, capital decisions, and the financial direction of the company.

The Engagement

We start by reviewing your current financials, operations, and goals. From there we build a working rhythm around your business. That might include monthly financial reviews, cash flow forecasts, pricing analysis, lender conversations, or planning sessions before major decisions.

The Working Relationship

You work directly with Gina, not a rotating team. Because GMJ already handles bookkeeping and tax work for many of these engagements, the financial data driving CFO decisions is already accurate and current. There is no waiting on someone else to catch up the books before strategic conversations can happen.

Why It Matters

Most growing businesses reach a point where the owner is making financial decisions without enough information. Revenue is climbing, expenses are climbing faster, and there is a sense that something is off but no clear picture of what. A bookkeeper alone cannot answer those questions. A full-time CFO at market rate is out of reach for a business doing one or two million in revenue.

The fractional model fills that gap. You get the analysis and judgment of a senior financial professional applied to your specific situation, paid for only as much as you actually use.

Decisions Without Data

Hiring another employee, taking on a loan, expanding into a new location, raising prices. These decisions get made constantly without anyone running the numbers carefully. The cost of a wrong call here is often many times what proper analysis would have cost.

Cash Flow Surprises

Profitable businesses still run out of cash. Tax payments hit, a big customer pays late, inventory needs to be restocked. Without forecasting, these moments arrive as emergencies. With forecasting, they arrive as scheduled events you already planned around.

What Changes

You stop running the business on instinct and bank balance. Decisions get made with real numbers behind them. You know which products or services actually make money, which customers are worth the effort, and how much room you have before the next big expense.

The conversations also change. Instead of asking your accountant about last quarter, you are talking about the next quarter and the year ahead. Planning replaces reacting.

A Forward View

Cash flow forecasts, budget versus actual comparisons, and scenario planning give you a working view of where the business is headed. You see problems early enough to do something about them and opportunities early enough to act on them.

A Sounding Board

Owning a business can be isolating when it comes to financial decisions. Having someone credentialed and experienced to think through major moves with you, whether that is a hire, a purchase, or a pricing change, takes a lot of weight off the decision and usually leads to a better outcome.
