Personal Tax Returns

Individual federal and state tax return preparation for the owners of our business clients. Coordinated with your business return so nothing gets missed.

What This Is

This service is for the owners of our business clients. When we already handle your books and your business return, it makes sense for the same firm to prepare your personal return. The two filings are connected, and keeping them under one roof means nothing falls through the cracks between them.

We prepare federal and state individual returns covering W-2 income, pass-through income from your business, investment activity, rental property, retirement distributions, and the standard mix of deductions and credits. The work is straightforward when the business books are clean, which is the part we already manage for you.

The Preparation

Federal Form 1040 with all applicable schedules. North Carolina, South Carolina, or other state returns based on where you live and earn. K-1 income from your S-Corp, partnership, or LLC. Schedule C if you also have sole proprietor activity. Capital gains, dividends, and interest from your investment accounts.

The Coordination

We file your business return first or in tandem so the numbers reconcile. Your K-1 matches what we reported on the business side. Estimated payments and prior year carryovers are tracked. Nothing is recalculated from scratch because we already have the records.

Why This Matters

When your business return and personal return are prepared by different people, you end up acting as the messenger between them. Sending K-1s back and forth. Answering the same questions twice. Hoping both preparers used the same numbers. It usually works out, but it is more work than it needs to be, and small discrepancies can turn into IRS notices.

There is also the planning side. Decisions on the business side affect your personal return, and decisions on the personal side affect the business. Owner draws, reasonable compensation for S-Corp shareholders, retirement contributions, and timing of distributions all touch both filings. Seeing the full picture matters when these choices are being made.

One Source of Truth

Your business income, deductions, and credits flow through to your personal return without translation errors. If a question comes up later from the IRS or the state, the answer is in the same set of files. No tracking down a separate preparer who may or may not still remember the work.

Catching the Crossover Items

Home office, vehicle use, health insurance for S-Corp owners, retirement plan contributions, and self-employment tax all sit at the intersection of personal and business. These are easy to miss or misreport when the two returns are handled separately.

What You Get

A complete and accurate personal return filed on time, prepared by the same firm that knows your business. Gina is an IRS Enrolled Agent, so if questions come up later, you have someone credentialed to represent you. The work is done with the same care and attention as your business filings.

You also get a single point of contact for tax season. One firm, one set of conversations, one organized file. Less back and forth, fewer questions you have to answer twice, and a clearer view of your total tax position going into the next year.

Filed and Documented

Federal and state returns prepared, reviewed, and electronically filed. Copies stored alongside your business records. Estimated payment vouchers prepared for the coming year so you are not scrambling in April or surprised in January.

Year-Round Visibility

Because we already work with you throughout the year on the business side, personal tax conversations happen as decisions are being made, not after the fact. Bonuses, distributions, equipment purchases, and retirement contributions can be timed with the full picture in view.
